In 1998 plans were announced for SETI@home and 400,000 people pre-registered during the next year. Now people in 226 countries run SETI@home with about half of the participants residing in the U.S. |

The Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute is a private nonprofit organization founded in 1984.
The mission of the institute is to explore, understand and explain the origin, nature and prevalence of life in the universe.
TeamSETI is the membership program for supporters of the SETI Institute.
